Major reforms for police hate incident recording
A joint review of Non-Crime Hate Incidents (NCHI) by the College of Policing and the National Police Chiefs' Council is being published next week. The current system will go and be replaced with a new approach to keep individuals and communities safe while making clear that lawful free speech is not a police matter.
The joint review is attached with a press release - all under embargo until 00:01 on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.
