Let's say thanks to our policing families
Heads-up: December campaign and toolkit coming your way soon from Oscar Kilo the National Police Wellbeing Service.
Oscar Kilo the National Police Wellbeing Service are here to help police forces build wellbeing support for everyone who works for them – and their families.
Over the last few months we’ve been developing a programme of support for families. This is driven by the police covenant which means all police forces need to demonstrate they’re taking action to support families. We’re here to help you do that. We have attached (as a reminder) the comms that came out to you earlier this month, and here's a link to our Family Life hub on our website - OK family life | Oscar Kilo
It’s early days because this is a huge area. We’ve started with in-depth research to understand some of the challenges policing families face.
We won’t solve them all tomorrow, but one of the things we’ve heard is that a simple acknowledgement of how tough it can be, really helps. It helps people feel less alone, and more seen. Saying that it can be difficult, out loud, is the start of change.
That’s why, we’ve created a campaign designed to help police forces across the UK acknowledge the support of families.
We’ve got some video content (based on crowd-sourced stories from police families), images, social media graphics and template copy you can use to make the campaign your own.
We’re putting a toolkit together and will share it with you soon. We hope it’s something you’ll consider putting out this December.
Here’s a sneak peak of some of the content:
As part of the toolkit, we’ll include suggested responses to tricky questions too. And we'll be on hand to help you if you need it.
Please get in touch with any questions.
Thanks
