College of Policing supporting Met Police to improve

The College of Policing has responded to the Peel Inspection report by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services.

College of Policing Director of Leadership and Workforce Development, Jo Noakes, said:

“The public rightly expects the highest standards of policing. We are already working closely with the new commissioner and his team to support their plans to improve the Met.

“Policing must do the fundamentals well and the College of Policing is committed to helping in the areas that common sense tells us will make the biggest difference, including training of new recruits, leadership at all levels, and using what already works well in other parts of the country.

“The solution to delivering a better service which cuts crime and gets justice for victims lies in ensuring there is high-quality leadership from those making the decisions that matter to the public. That’s why the full efforts of the College are on leadership training, in particular more support for constables, sergeants and inspectors.”
